Why 500 Words Daily?

Why did a start this WordPress? That’s a good question.

The thing is, I don’t exactly know why I started this either. I’m at a stage in my life where I am feeling lost. I’m a twenty two-year-old and I already feel like a lost soul. I feel like a lost soul because, for the most part, I feel like I’ve done everything in my life to plan.

When I was younger, I used to picture the big milestones in my life and would think to myself, “Once I graduate from university I’ll do this …” Well, I’ve come to the point in my life where I have graduated from university and my life is nothing as I imagined. I thought that after university, I would have job security. I thought that after university, I would have a clear plan. I thought that after university, I would be financially independent from my parents. I thought that I would have my own place to live in that was perfectly designed like an IKEA showroom that I used to wonder through when I was growing up.

None of that has happened to me.

This is why I feel like a lost soul. I’m looking back to all the things that I could have done or all the things I could have become if I had been more daring to pursue my dreams as a child.

I feel like everyone told me that passions and hobbies could never take you anywhere in life. Now I’m here thinking to myself, “If I had pursued that path would my life be more similar to the way I’d imagined it would be as a kid?” Should I have pursued a creative outlet more? Created my own jewelry? Been an interior designer?

What I am slowly starting to realize is that I am missing a sparkle from my current life. I wish that I had more of a creative outlet. An outlet where I would take 10, 15, maybe even 60 minutes out of the day and just simply let me mind wander happily to wherever it took itself. So, I guess, this blog is me trying to discover that creative sparkle that I’m missing.

I’m looking to challenge myself to write at least 500 words a day in order to have a creative outlet. Was this 500 words? I don’t know but that’s not the point. I’m looking for a muse, a passion … or maybe I’m looking for nothing. I don’t know what’s going to come out of this personal goal I’ve given myself. All this page is simply supposed to be is a jumbled, perfectly unedited, ramble of thoughts of a lost recent university graduate.
